Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Assistant Executive Director, the Director of Housing and the Director of Social Services, the Kauhale’s operate in conjunction with the State of Hawai’i to provide respite and home for the houseless communities they serve.
The Resident Navigator position is responsible for the administrative role under the direct supervision of the Site Manager of the Kauhale.
They shall support the well-being of shelter residents through intake and welcoming of the new residents, monitoring of all activities and movement in and out of the site for residents and visitor’s safety, and ensuring all legal documentation is kept to protect Project Vision Hawaii (PVH), staff, residents and guests while on property.
Staff shall forge and maintain an extensive network of community partners, volunteers, doctors, the DOH, DOT and DHS staff.
The Resident Navigator is to answer phone calls and inquiries and direct them to the appropriate staff member, work with security to uphold the rules of the community, and connect residents to needed services from other staff or partners.
All work is to be conducted under a trauma-informed lens, with a harm-reduction mindset.
Crisis intervention, de-escalation training, fire safety, first aid, CPR training, and other trainings are all required.
This position will also assist with inventory of equipment, supplies, and collateral material.
As a Resident Navigator, you must be available to assist with events, at the Kauhale, under the direction of the Site Manager or any of the PVH Directors.
Under the general direction of the Executive Director, or superiors, you may be assigned duties to help focus on productivity for general office tasks to achieve efficiency and improve time management for this and other positions at the kauhale.
