Minimum Qualifications: Must demonstrate broad knowledge of culinary practices and cooking techniques.
2 years of prior experience working in a professional kitchen as a cook.
Interest in culinary arts with a desire and willingness to learn.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, perspective, and a strong work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through.
Ability to work within and support a diverse community of visitors, artists, and employees.
Desired Qualifications: Organized and detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
Flexible and agreeable in regard to duties assigned and work schedules given.
Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line cook, restaurant cook, or prep cook.
Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.

ANSI, Servsafe, or State of Hawaii Food Handlers Certification.
Essential Duties: Food preparation and cooking/plating during service.
Maintains kitchen work areas and cafe equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Sets up and stocks stations with all necessary supplies.
Prepares food for service (e.

chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces and dressings.
) Cooks menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff.
Answers, reports, and follows chef’s instructions.
Cleans up station and properly disposes of or stores leftover ingredients.
Stocks inventory appropriately.
Ensures that food comes out simultaneously, in a high quality and timely fashion.
Complies with sanitation regulations and food safety standards.
Maintains a positive and professional approach with coworkers.
Assists with special events and catering as needed.

Working Conditions and Atmosphere: This job operates in a kitchen environment.
This role routinely uses an oven, grill, stove top, sinks and dishwashers and tools to clean kitchen appliances.
Employees in this role are frequently exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, and cleaning chemicals.
Able to walk, stand, use stairs and climb a ladder, bend, stoop, kneel and crouch.
Must be able to use arms, hands and fingers to hold utensils, sharp knives, and heavy pots and pans.
Must be able to pick up, hold, carry, and lift overhead up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to reach outward and overhead.
