Job Purpose
The Data and Reporting Specialist at Liliʻuokalani Trust (LT) plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's data-informed decision-making processes.
This position is responsible for managing and analyzing data, preparing reports, and creating visualizations to effectively communicate insights and findings to stakeholders.
The Data & Reporting Specialist works closely with the Director, Data Science and other team members to ensure accurate and timely reporting of data.
Essential Responsibilities • Data Management: Manage and maintain LT data, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, in part by conducting quality assurance checks on data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
Maintain documentation and technical manuals related to data reporting processes.
Ensure data handling practices comply with ethical and legal requirements and with LT Data Governance policies and procedures.
• System Administration: Collaborate with the Director, Data Science and members of the Information Technology and Data Quality Assurance teams to support LT data systems.
• Data Analysis: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their informational requirements, and perform data analysis and interpretation, identifying patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data.
• Data Reporting: Design and complete recurring and ad hoc reports (including data visualizations) that effectively communicate key insights and trends: collaborate with the Director of Data Science to integrate data analysis findings into reports and visualizations for internal and external audiences and recommend innovative approaches to enhance data reporting effectiveness and efficiency.
• Training and Education: Collaborate with the Director, Data Science and other members of the Research, Evaluation, and Data Science team to provide training and support to colleagues on using available dashboards and other reports to empower them to utilize data effectively in their decision-making processes.
• Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in data reporting and visualization to enhance LT data collection, reporting, and analytics and optimize data management processes.
Other Duties Contribute to LT’s success by accepting new assignments, helping team members, learning new skills, and striving to improve team and organization results.
Qualifications Preferred education and experience: • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.
g.
, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics) or equivalent (met through a combination of directly related training and experience) • 2 or more years of directly related, progressively responsible experience in data management, analysis, reporting, and visualization.
• Experience creating data reports using tools and platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools at an intermediate to advanced level.
• Experience translating complex data into clear and concise reports and visualizations.
• Experience using SQL for data querying and manipulation at the intermediate to advanced level • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex • Intermediate to advanced skills with programming languages such as Python or R is desirable Job Competencies: • Tolerance for ambiguity, emergence, and divergence in assignments • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Strong analytical thinking and critical reasoning skills.
• Knowledge of data quality control procedures including data cleaning, validation, and verification.
