Asian couple salt and pepper shakers made by Ceramic Arts Studio, Madison, Wisconsin.

Excellent vintage condition.
The two are in excellent condition.
No chips, cracks or crazing.
Both are signed on the bottom Ceramics Arts Studio BH.
The BH are the initials of the wonderful designer Betty Harrington who hand crafted the designs for the studio.
The story of Betty Harrington is inspiring.
In 1942, she visited the Ceramic Arts Studio and asked the owners to fire a figurine she had sculpted from clay found in her backyard.
Recognizing her artistic talent, co-owner Reuben Sand refused a fee, but instead asked Harrington to model more figures.
It was the beginning of Harrington’s career as a potter—in the next 14 years she designed more than 800 figurines for the company.
They are wonderful collectibles today.
These shakers have never been used! The pair stand 4 1/2 inches tall.
They are wearing matching off white jackets trimmed in mint green with black and orange ties and buttons.
They both wear black sandals.
Their detailed lovely faces are sweet and serene with rosy cheeks and lips and black lashes.
The man's hair is in a braided ponytail and her hair is adorned with flowers.
