Schedule: Full Time, open availability overall; to include weekends and holidays as needed.

Trail Guide Competencies: • Effectively conducts on the job training for new employees • Able to conduct check tours- rides along with guides to excel in presentation of tour information/narration • Determine what trails to take when the weather is inclement • Provides input and feedback on individual team members performance to manager • Demonstrates proficiency in making basic management decisions • Schedules staff accordingly to guests projections • Effectively communicates to guides as to their daily assignments prior to guest arrival • Recognizes scheduling conflicts and takes the necessary steps to correct them • Able to handle normal daily horseback operations without assistance or in the absence of a manager • Recognizes when a horse needs medical attention and follows procedures without having to be instructed • Makes sound judgement calls in regards to what horses need to be used and not used.
Horseback Standards and Procedures: • Maintain an exemplary record of attendance and punctuality • Maintains personal appearance standards at all times in accordance with the employee handbook • Knowledgeable in all aspects of daily operations and is a role model for others • Demonstrates reliability- Can be counted on to complete assigned tasks with no or minimal supervision.
• Sets an example of Pookela, makes an effort to learn more, do more, and continuously strive for perfection.
• Exhibits an encouraging, professional, upbeat attitude at all times.
• Holds self and others accountable to support Co.
Standards.
Horseback Safety: • Completed all safety training classes • Able to explain SDS Safety Standards • Ale to demonstrate Fire Extinguisher • Current First Aid/CPR Certification • Conducts weekly audits of first aid kits • Promotes safety by leading by example • Knows how to identify safety hazards and takes the necessary steps to correct any safety hazard Horseback Guest Service: • Leads by example demonstrating the highest level of guest service • Exemplifies Hookipa Guest Service Standards daily with guests and co workers • Guest Service record free from any complaints or negative feedback.
• Knows and can explain ranch mission, values and vision Horseback Leadership: • Maintains a high degree of professionalism • Gains the respect and confidence of others and is a team and positive moral builder • Assists Manager and takes charge, directs, and coordinates daily activities of the department.
• Takes the initiative to resolve guest and staff concerns • Effectively communicates information to others in a positive manner.
• Uses sound judgement to make a good decision in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications: • Intermediate to advanced horse knowledge & current riding experience required.
• Great customer service skills.
• Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform labor work.
