Kamehameha Schools is looking for a Manager of Digital Content to manage a team of about 4-5.
This position is a “working” manager role, so in addition to supervisory experience, we are also looking for someone experienced in animation, motion graphics, graphic design, web design, video production, illustration, research, writing, photography.
ʻŌlelo Hawai‘i, and kuana ‘ike Hawai‘i, in the creation and dissemination of mo‘olelo, especially through digital media (video/broadcast, web, mobile) would also be important.
This is a hybrid position, based out of our Kawaiaha’o Plaza location.
Job Summary Manages a team in the design and production of digital media content (video/broadcast, web, mobile) in support of the unit’s area of focus.
The Digital Content Manager (DCM) is expected to operate as a collegial team member whose function is to coordinate and ensure cohesion and synergy among projects conducted by the unit’s teams and, in collaboration with other DCMs, ensures the same for cross-functional team projects involving other units, divisions, groups, and/or community partners.
Applies subject matter knowledge to lead the design of engaging and useful applications online and in-person.
The DCM helps to model and coach team members in applying excellent communication, planning, project management, and facilitation skills to ensure projects meet their goals within time and budget constraints.
Works with other DCMs to design and implement a system of staff evaluation and continuous improvement.
Essential Responsibilities Ensures that projects focus on meeting group and division goals, targets, and measures.
Coordinates and ensures collaboration, cohesion, and synergy among the projects in the unit, and, in collaboration with other DCMs, ensures the same for cross-functional team projects involving other units, divisions, groups, and/or community partners.
Serves as a model, motivator, and coach for the unit’s team members, assisting them in applying excellent communication, planning, project management, and facilitation skills to meet project milestones, timelines, budgets, and reporting expectations.
Serves as a project team member or project team lead to advance the core work of the unit’s projects.
Manages third-party vendor contracts and in-house Kamehameha Schools (KS) resources, allocates and deploys resources as needed.
Determines and manages budgets for projects.
Works closely with attorneys and KS legal counsel to ensure digital experiences adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and KS policies.
Works with team members and DCMs to design and implement a system of staff evaluation and continuous improvement that involves regular 360-degree feedback among team members, including the DCMs.
Conducts evaluations of the unit’s staff members, relying heavily on regular 360-degree feedback provided among team members.
Manages all administrative duties associated with the unit’s team members.
Manages all fiscal and reporting responsibilities for the unit.
Manages staff, temporary staff, interns, along with vendor contracts associated with the unit’s responsibilities and projects.
Facilitates communication between the unit team and the Division and Program Directors.
Manages the creation, maintenance, productions and publication of digital media resources.
Manage and maintain support systems and platforms required to distribute, disseminate, and archive media resources.
May assume a hands-on role as needed.
Assist with strategic planning and implementation of ad hoc projects, with an emphasis on Hawaiian culture, under the direction of division leaders.
Effectively engage a variety of digital consumers through the utilization of technology and multimedia best practices.
Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Design or a related field relevant to the specific project focuses of the unit.
Minimum of 8 years conducting work related to the types of projects engaged in by the unit.
Experience in leading or managing staff, independent contractors, and/or interns, and reporting to senior leaders.
Demonstrated strength in leading teams to accomplish defined common goals and objectives.
Professional, educational, or personal life experiences that demonstrate a passion for and commitment to the objectives outlined in the KS E Ola! Learner Outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to methodically plan, execute, and manage moderate to high-risk/complex initiatives.
Able to manage project scope, quality, cost and schedule following established guidelines or expectations.
Ability to manage and support leadership and staff through institutional changes associated with implemented projects.
Ability to secure, coordinate, and manage internal and external (community collaborator or consultant/contractor) project team members to achieve project objectives.
Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, and facilitation skills.
Ability to deliver oral and written program reports to senior management.
Ability to make tough decisions when necessary.

Physical and Mental Requirements Frequently sits, performs desk-based computer tasks and grasps light or fine manipulation, talks and listens.
Occasionally lifts and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally required to conduct physical activity, including twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, reaching or working above the shoulder, or grasping forcefully.
