*Primary Responsibilities*
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Laboratory, performs routine and complex chemical, microscopic and bacteriological tests, including fine line discrimination and correction of errors, to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Receives or obtains specimen for laboratory analysis.
Calculates and reports laboratory results.

*Essential Duties*
* Performs clinical analysis of the various laboratory disciplines.
* Executes necessary Quality Controls to insure properly working conditions and results.
* Maintains laboratory equipment.
* Instructs laboratory personnel, new employees and students.
*Other Duties*
* Maintains supplies.
* Evaluates new equipment.
* Complies with hospital and departmental work rules and policies.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
* Minimum Qualification Requirements:
* Employment is subject to being completely vaccinated or having a WGH approved COVID-19 Vaccine Exemption prior to providing services for the facility.
*Skills/Knowledge:*
* Good communication and the ability to write legibly and read and understand the English language sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
* Ability to deal tactfully and responsively with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, physicians, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
* Knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to plan and provide care appropriate to the age and special needs of the patient being served.
* Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
*Education:*
* For Medical Lab Technician - Associates Degree in MLT or equivalent.
For Medical Technologist - Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or equivalent training.
*License:*
* For Medical Technologist -ASCP certification or equivalent.
* Current Hawaii Clinical Laboratory Technologist license or eligible.
*Enhanced Qualifications:*
* One (1) year of experience.
*Working Conditions*
* Air conditioned, well lighted environment.
* Exposure to infectious and contagious diseases; blood borne pathogens.
* Subject to frequent interruptions.
* May work beyond normal working hours.
* Interacts with other departments and personnel and outside contacts.

* General office equipment; laboratory equipment
*Mental and Physical Demands*
* Ability to lift/carry or push/pull up to 20 pounds without assistance.
* Position involves reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing and walking.
