The Opportunity: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible to administer all health and welfare benefits programs, plans and policies, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, supplemental and other insurance policies/plans and benefits.
Responsibilities include, however may not be limited to: Developing and executing initiatives, research, analysis, reporting, policies, procedures, general operations of the Human Resources Office, and general administration in the following functional areas: Full Cycle Benefits Administration Employee Engagement Initiatives and Employee Recognition & Rewards’ Programs Employee Compensation Wellness, Health and Safety Training and Development Company Culture Employee Relations Recruitment, Orientation and Staffing The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for ensuring Human Resource guiding principles are adhered to in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
These include having a focused and disciplined approach with regard to HR policies, regulations, laws and other procedures, delivering excellent customer service, emphasizing communication, teamwork, collaboration and seeking ways to support and develop standardized processes and consistent, efficient and effective procedures.
The Human Resources Generalist designs, develops and leads HR practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture which emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.
They also coordinate the implementation of services, policies, and programs through HR staff; reports to the Director of Human Resources and assists and advises/counsels supervisors/ managers pertaining to Human Resource areas, challenges, and issues.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Development of Human Resource Department Assists with the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.
Participates in developing departmental goals, objectives and systems.
Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
Responsible for ongoing process improvements and efficiencies and to implement and execute in timely manner for successful outcomes.
Partners with management to communicate HR policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
Establish departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the company's strategic goals.
Compensation and Benefits Supports the ongoing development and monitoring of the company wage and salary structure and the variable pay systems and benefit plans within the company including bonuses and raises.
Conducts market research and prepares benefits and compensation studies to help establish competitive benefits and compensation practices and salary bands that help to recruit and retain qualified staff.
Participates in market compensation and benefits surveys, as requested.
Acts as a liaison between employees, Human Resources, and third party vendors and PEO with any benefit questions/concerns.
Works with Benefits brokerage to ensure quality plans and rates for upcoming plan renewals.
Responsible for all aspects of Open Enrollment Communications, Planning, Logistics, working w/carriers and vendors to ensure successful implementation, delivery and outcomes for benefit enrollments for staff.
Develops and schedules benefits orientations and other benefits training and education.
Administers disability and worker's compensation claims.
Serves as back up for Payroll Administrator.
Provides general payroll processing backup support.
Assists with the maintenance of the HR/Payroll and Time and Attendance databases.
Employee Relations and Employee Engagement Responsible for employee engagement, employee recognition and rewards plans, programs, and events and initiatives to include Annual Employee Appreciation Event, All Staff Meetings, Holiday Gatherings, Employee Committee(s), working with Director in initiatives and plans to sustain and improve employee engagement and overall employee satisfaction.
Responsible for the implementation of company safety and health programs.
Tracks and posts OSHA-required data and files reports.
Responsible for development, delivery, tracking and reporting of safety and health education and training organization-wide Coordinates and facilitates safety efforts and training as needed.
Assists with employee communications and feedback through such avenues as company meetings, suggestion programs, employee satisfaction surveys, newsletters, employee focus groups, one-on-one meetings, and Intranet use.
Helps to monitor, facilitate and be instrumental in building and enhancing the organization's culture so that it supports the attainment of the company's goals and promotes employee satisfaction.
Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale, employee satisfaction, and motivation.
As needed, conducts interviews/investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
Provides support and coaching to managers and employees with employee relations issues in a timely manner; and recommends appropriate actions under the direction of the Director of HR.
Employment Assists with recruitment and hiring initiatives to source qualified employees/talent and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations and monitors and continuously improves the employee on-boarding process.
Laws and Regulations Complies with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Hawaii Family Leave Act (HFLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor (DOL), worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth.
This includes assisting managers with the application and interpretation of HR policies, performance problems, transfers, terminations and promotions Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company HR policies and governmental laws and regulations.
Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
Responsible to remain current with all state, federal employment laws and regulations and ensures AlohaCare is in compliance.
Responsible to be knowledgeable of AlohaCare Contracts and the requirements as it pertains to staffing and benefits.
Other Responsible to maintain AlohaCare’s confidential information in accordance with AlohaCare policies, and state and federal laws, rules and regulations regarding confidentiality.
Employees have access to AlohaCare data based on the data classification assigned to this job title.
All other duties assigned Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or Organization Development or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three to five years of progressive experience in Human Resource positions, to include benefits administration, payroll processing, training/organizational development, employee engagement and recruiting.
Specialized training in employment law, benefits and compensation, labor laws both state and federal, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, training, and preventive labor relations, preferred.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification, preferred.
Healthcare experience, preferred.
Required Competencies & Qualifications: Experience with and knowledge of State and Federal employment laws and practices.
? Experience in benefits plans/program design and administration, compensation and other HR programs/areas.
Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.

Experience in project management, management reporting and analysis and excellent in building, maintaining and working with spreadsheets.
Experience with and ability to learn and administer HCM/HRIS/Payroll systems/platforms in recruiting, hiring, payroll, performance and learning management systems.
Intermediate to advanced ability to use Microsoft Programs; Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and Publisher.
Experience in design, development, facilitation and delivery of training and development programs.
Requires operation of general office equipment to include; PC, fax/copy machine and phone system.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions: Requires operation of computer workstation, including keyboard and video display terminal.
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
