Monthly Type: 11 Month Tenure Track: Non-Tenure Full Time/Part Time: ** Part Time - Full Time Equivalency: 5%** **This is a dual-employed full-time core faculty position including 10% FTE University of Hawaii John A Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) and 90% FTE with the JABSOM faculty practice plan, Hawai‘i Pacific Health (HPH).
Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Other Conditions: On tuition funds; renewable subject to performance and/or funding availability; to begin approximately May 2024 subject to position clearance and availability of funds.
Duties and Responsibilities: For the Assistant Professor: Provides full scope family medicine direct patient care and teaching across clinical settings as negotiated with the Department Chair (e.
g.
inpatient, outpatient, newborn nursery, maternity care, nursing home care, home visits).
Actively participates in the John A.
Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) M.
D.
program including: Problem-Based Learning (PBL) tutor in MS1/MS2 curriculum, clinical teaching (inpatient and outpatient), MS3/MS4 curriculum, and Observed Structured Clinical Exam (O.
S.
C.
E.
) evaluation.
Participates in the precepting of residents and other learners in the Family Medicine outpatient and inpatient setting.
Actively participates in the Family Medicine Residency program including: resident-faculty advisor, clinical competency committee (CCC), curriculum committees, weekly didactics, and department-related community outreach.
Serves on the HPH/JABSOM and University committees and/or the Medical Executive Committee of the affiliated site, as appropriate.
Shares in the faculty call schedule, precepting, and the hospital service rotation and/or maternity/newborn care.
Serves as a practicing family physician and is responsible for generating revenue through patient care.
Performs research or comparable scholarly activity.
Performs related tasks as assigned.
For the Associate Professor: Same as Assistant Professor but with increasing responsibility for administering programs in research, education and/or clinical care; and with less supervision and oversight.

degree from an LCME/AOA (Liaison Committee on Medical Education/American Osteopathic Association) accredited medical school.
Board certification by the American Board of Family Medicine (within 7 years).
Eligible for licensure in Hawaii.
Appropriate inpatient medicine and procedural skills.
Demonstrated ability in teaching and patient care relating to full scope of Family Medicine.
Eligible for an appointment in good standing to Pali Momi Medical Center and/or Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
Experience working with multicultural and underserved patient populations.
Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, the Associate Professor position must have- a minimum of four years in the rank of Assistant Professor (candidates not applying from the assistant professor rank should have seven or more years of post-doctoral experience in a recognized medical school or major medical research/scholarship institution) or one year at the rank of Associate Professor at another medical school of recognized standing.
Proven ability in teaching, research and program administration in the area of Family Medicine.
Evidence of significant scholarly contribution to the clinical specialty.
Ability to serve as role model for students and junior colleagues.
Desirable Qualifications: A minimum of four years of full-time professional activity in family medicine and have had teaching experience in a family medicine residency program.
Academic Development Fellowship and/or experience teaching in an accredited Family Medicine Residency Program.
Master’s in Public Health or equivalent training in population health.
Interest and Experience in maternity care (i.
e.
supervision of residents on labor & delivery rotation).
