The Legal Aid Society of Hawaiʻi is Hawaiʻi’s oldest and largest non-profit public interest law firm with offices statewide.
Through its dedicated staff, Legal Aid helps ensure justice and fairness for all by providing civil legal aid to the most vulnerable in our society.
The Paralegal will provide client assistance in housing discrimination cases, develop culturally relevant outreach materials and conduct community education.
The Paralegal is based out of the Honolulu Legal Aid office and will be expected to travel to outreach sites across the island Qualifications: · Have an Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school or equivalent experience.
· Paralegal experience strongly preferred, but training is provided.
· Experience or familiarity with family law strongly preferred.
Experience in other areas of Legal Aid’s practice a plus.
· Demonstrable commitment to social justice or experience working with disadvantaged and/or low-income population preferred.
· Strong organizational skills to manage a busy practice, meet deadlines, and perform multiple tasks with attention to detail.
· Humility in working with colleagues and clients across the spectrum of diversity, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, immigrant status, religious identity, physical and mental disabilities, and/or limited English proficiency.
· Able to work under pressure in an empathetic and professional manner.
· Strong writing, editing, and proof-reading skills, with ability to be detail-oriented.
· Basic computer skills required.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office program (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams), required.
Compensation: Starting between $20.
09 – 26.
63 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
