Position Overview:
Plans, directs, and coordinates recreation or leisure based treatment programs for patients with disabilities, injuries, or illnesses.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to patient evaluation and assessment, treatment selection and planning, and implementation of intervention for residents.
Exercises sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to provide input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis in a timely manner.
Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication.
Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
Assists with clinical supervision of assistants and aides, and serves as clinical instructor for assigned students.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES REHABILITATION SERVICES: • Organizes, administers and provides a wide variety of recreational, leisure and social activities for all patients in various clinical settings • Completes patient evaluations and tests per standards of practice and regulatory requirements • Develops and updates the patient’s Plan of Care (POC) • Assesses and provides and/or progresses treatment for patients per plan of care per established standards • Coordinates patient care effectively and efficiently with other care provider and support team members • Compliant with other department & organization requirements and responsibilities • Works flexible shift assignments, e.

days of week, hours • Assists with clinical supervision of assistants and aides • Functions as clinical instructor for assigned students CLERICAL: • Prepares and completes accurate documentation related to patient, including all therapy performed in medical and departmental records per standards as required.
• Completes all documentation related to charge capture per established standards • May perform general clerical tasks, such as answering phones; updating patient appointments; or retrieving, entering, and revising patient Electronic Health Records (EHR).
SAFETY: • Participates in quality improvement processes and interdisciplinary projects.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment after each use.
• Inspects and uses equipment per manufacturers’ guidelines recording data and reporting malfunctions per policy.
COMPLIANCE: • Maintains strictest confidence of all patient protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
• Prepares, administers, and documents services in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Compliant with other department and organization requirements and responsibilities • Retains certification and completes mandated continuing education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies accreditation and licensure requirements.
SUTTER SENIOR CARE: • May provides input with recruiting and evaluation of Activity Coordinators.
• May assists , trains, and supervises Activities Coordinators' and volunteers.
• Ensures all state and federal regulations for the activities department are met.
• Operate within the established budget guidelines EDUCATION Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
Other: Recreation Therapist graduate of an accredited university or equivalent education/experience CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REC-Recreational Therapist Upon Hire OR CTRS-Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Upon Hire BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire DEPARTMENT REQUIRED CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE Department: Home Health, DL-California Drivers Class C PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN: 2 years requires experience as typically acquired in a similar environment.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of Recreational Therapy principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
