Position Type: Full Time - M-F
Location: Job Site, Various Locations on Oahu, Majority East Oahu
Pay: Hourly
Roles and Responsibilities
Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites including but not limited to the following:
Determine Materials and tools needed for projects and retrieve or direct supplies to be retrieved from supply companies or company inventory.
Train Apprentices and other employees
Keep track of inventory so new materials can be ordered as needed
Read plans, instructions, or specifications to determine work activities.
Operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble, debris, and other waste materials.
Follow established OSHA and company safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
Identity and eliminate possible hazards
Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications.
Provide assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters, plasterers, or masons.
Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed
Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using carpenters' hand or power tools.
Maintain and report time and description of work activities
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Driver’s License with clean driving record and reliable transportation
High School diploma
Must be able to lift 75lbs
Must have 5 year of experience and knowledge of the following;
Building and Construction — Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, and/or building.
Ability to read and understand blueprints.
Construction Safety — Knowledge of OSHA construction safety practices and regulations.
Willingness to follow all safety standards.
Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
Preferred Skills
Communication –Must be able to convey information effectively both verbally and/or in writing.
Active Listening — Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Cooperative — Must work well in a team environment and be able to adjust actions in relation to others' actions.
Leadership – Journeyman carpenter trains apprentices and other staff, strong leadership skills are essential.
Analytical skills and attention to detail
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to a variety of condition at construction job sites.
The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
The position regularly works in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
Potential exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards such as: hazardous materials/waste and toxic airborne contaminants; physical hazards from work environment conditions and equipment operations.
Activities may require use of respiratory protection and chemical protective clothing
