The Indo-Pacific Regional Operations Department (N254) with the US Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) and the Military Service Components on-island to inform warfighter requirements and Concepts of Operation (CONOP), and provides Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) systems acquisition, engineering, and integration support to the Department of Defense (DOD) and U.

Job Responsibilities: Contribute to and lead portions of MITRE’s work for US Indo-Pacific Command in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Qualified candidates will have a strong defense background with demonstrated technical experience in advancing joint command and control, joint fires, and mission planning capabilities.
The candidate will work closely with sponsors across INDOPACOM to include centers relevant to operations, intelligence, communications, and strategy/plans to holistically support the command’s effort to incrementally implement JADC2 concepts.
The candidate must be able to work collaboratively with a local and remote MITRE team demonstrating strong teamwork and cooperation.
The selected individual will be expected to work closely with military and civilian government experts from across the command to address their critical mission needs, document operational needs, identify relevant emerging technologies, and create advanced solutions to address mission challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
These positions will directly support the integration of strategic capabilities within the Indo-Pacific Theater to include capability development of the Joint Fires Network (JFN), Pacific Multi-Domain Training and Experimentation Capability (PMTEC), Mission Partner Environment (MPE), and Storm breaker.
These positions will require close collaboration with INDOPACOM Directorates, as well as the Service Components (PACFLT, PACAF, MARFORPAC, and USARPAC) on island.
Selected candidates will demonstrate the following: Strategic Leadership.
Define and guide strategic objectives and daily execution of support to USINDOPACOM.
Ensure FFRDC appropriate impactful tasks are defined, and meaningful data driven products are developed in a timely and relevant manner.
Actively collaborate with other projects supporting related sponsors to ensure maximum value and impact across MITRE’s sponsors.
Domain / Technical competence.
Demonstrate strong familiarity and skill in one or more of the following areas: (1) Joint Command and Control, including Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2); (2) C4 Enterprise Modernization / Resilient Communications; or (3) Joint, combined, and all-domain fires.
Interpersonal skills.
Provide and support team leadership partnering closely with both senior military leaders and action officers to identify operational and engineering challenges, potential solutions, and communicate project goals and impacts clearly and effectively.
Collaboration.
Work within a team environment that leverages a robust network of MITRE and other professional connections to engage and collaborate with engineers and planners, subject matter experts, international program (foreign military sales) specialists, and defense acquisition professionals.
Continue to leverage a pipeline of MITRE technical expertise from the Labs, capabilities from the MITRE Platforms, and transitioned R&D from the MIP into project delivery.

Comfortably and respectfully engage with both US and foreign nations’ senior military leaders and engineers as well as commercial executives and managers.

Minimum Qualifications: Typically requires a minimum of 8 years’ experience with a Bachelors, or 6 years Masters Degree, or PhD with 3 years of experience with a degree in one of the following disciplines - Engineering, Operations Research, Business Administration, Cybersecurity, Modeling and Simulation, Mathematics, or similar technical field and related experience.
Active DoD Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Knowledge of Joint Operations.
Interest in team leadership opportunities.
Familiarity with Department of Defense military missions.
Prior experience working with or on a Headquarters staff.
Perform system decomposition and detailed analysis of complex systems.
Knowledge and hands on experience using Model Based System Engineering tools and approaches to develop solutions for complex and technical requirements.
Conversant in Joint doctrine, plans, and have a strong communications and intelligence background.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters Degree in one of the following disciplines, Electrical, Computer, Network or Systems Engineering or similar field and 5-10 years experience in multi-disciplinary engineering roles evaluating DoD systems, architectures, and capabilities.
Five years’ experience in tactical Command and Control Five years’ experience as an enterprise architect developing technical/functional/operational architectures Active TS/SCI Current knowledge of C2 and/or intelligence concepts/programs Strong knowledge in operational joint, combined and all-domain fires concepts and tactics to include offensive and defensive.
Understanding of best practices for layered C2 and defense constructs across services Additional clearances: NATO SECRET Top Secret/SCI Clearance highly preferred Familiarity with MITRE project management processes, capabilities, and associated tools Demonstrated capability for strategic planning and ability to provide actionable plans to government sponsors As part of MITRE’s Push to the Pacific initiative, employees hired to this requisition may be eligible to participate in a Hawaii Rotational Incentive program.
For select positions with high demand and difficult to fill skill sets, MITRE is proud to offer selected staff the opportunity to receive a 15% lump sum payment each year, for up to 3 years, and an additional 5% upon relocation to a non-Hawaii based location at the conclusion of the rotation program.
