Job Opportunity: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN)
Required Qualifications:
Degree/Education:
Graduate of a nursing program accredited by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and National League for Nursing.
International nurse graduates must possess a valid certification for Full Education Course-by-Course Report by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Schools.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse.
At least one (1) year of recent PICU experience within the last three years.
Licensure:
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
Certifications:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS).
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
Job Responsibilities:
As a PICU Registered Nurse, your areas of responsibility shall include, but not necessarily be limited to:
Advanced Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation:
Perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, including administering specialized and potentially lethal drugs based on weight.
Pulmonary Ventilation Treatments:
Administer various pulmonary ventilation treatments, including the administration of oxygen through invasive and noninvasive means.
Assistance with Procedures:
Assist physicians with complex and potential life-threatening procedures, such as cardioversion, insertion of central lines, and intubation.
Technical Equipment Operation:
Operate and monitor highly complex technical equipment, including hemodynamic monitoring devices, ventilators, and oxygen monitors.
Patient and Family Education:
Provide patient and family teaching and counseling regarding reactions to medications, health maintenance, and illness prevention.
Nursing Care Management:
Manage nursing care for patients on multiple medications and technical equipment.
Conduct thorough assessments, identify abnormalities, make immediate decisions, and take corrective action.
Specialized Nursing Assignments:
Possess knowledge of a wide range of nursing care principles and procedures required for highly specialized nursing assignments.
Assess the needs of critically ill infants, children, adolescents, and teenage patients.
Pediatric Wards/Clinics:
May be required to work on Pediatric Wards/Clinics.
Staffing and Scheduling:
Work schedule may include rotating 8, 10, and 12-hour shifts, seven days per week.
Schedule includes nights, weekends, and federal holidays.
Work hours will not exceed 12 hours in a 24-hour period and 80 hours in a consecutive 14-day period.
