These professionals are trained in the most up-to-date surgical procedures for treatment of cataracts, corneal disease, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, retinal disease and orbital disease.
Straub offers total eye care complete with one-stop-shopping optical shops, including a full selection of glasses frames, lenses and contact lenses.
As the Ophthalmic Assistant, you will help our Ophthalmology department to provide quality eye care and attention to Straub patients and their families.
In this role, you will provide base level technical and clinical support to the Ophthalmologist during exams and procedures.
We are looking for someone highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent communication and patient care skills and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i’s people.

79 Exempt: No Minimum Qualifications: One or more of the following: Graduate of a medical assistant program; completion of at least one (1) year equivalent nursing degree program; military corpsman certificate; EMT (Emergency Medical Training) or MICT (Mobile Intensive Care Technician) certificate; an RN/MD license or RN/MD graduate certificate from a college in a foreign country.
Current American Heart Association Heart Saver – AED CPR card.
One (1) year experience in an ophthalmology office setting.
Preferred Qualifications: The Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology – Ophthalmic Technician.
One (1) year experience at Ophthalmic Technician level.
