The Opportunity
Process Engineer at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company
Assists in a continuous improvement process of identifying and implementing ideas which will reduce operating expense or increase value of products produced.
Assists in performing economic analysis and evaluations of current operations and proposed improvements.
Key activities include: Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be providing technical assistance to refinery operations.
As part of your specific responsibilities, you will: Monitor daily operation of assigned process units.
Assist in the troubleshooting and optimization of assigned process units.
Assess and monitor long-term unit trends such as catalyst activity, yields, and equipment performance.
Assist in the design and modification of assigned process plants.
Assist in startup and shutdown of assigned process units including turnaround.
Comply with and enforces established rules and regulations involving safety and the environment.
Participate in daily communications with operators regarding unit performance and feedback regarding proposed new capital projects.
Size PSVs, size PSV inlet/outlet lines, and assess flare header backpressures.
Size and select control valves, orifice plates, and other flow devices.
Conduct PHAs, facilitates 5-year PHA revalidations, and support PSM roles in MOC, PSSR, and PSI Assist with P&ID development and updating (as-built P&IDs) to reflect field changes.
Provide technical support to the maintenance department (troubleshooting equipment, providing process data, assisting in MOC evaluations, etc.
) Provide support to project engineering (cost estimates, systems selection, planning, organization, bid evaluations, material requisitions, scheduling, etc.
) Provide support to other process engineers and develops technical skills of process engineers.

Qualifications for this role: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering required.
Minimum 3 years of experience in petroleum refining in a chemical engineering environment required.
Five plus years of related experience is preferred.
Experience in process design required.
Able to climb towers and vessels to gather data and assist in turnaround activities required.
Able to work at various heights and in confined spaces required.
Willingness and ability to work in a safety and environmentally sensitive environment required.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with multi-functional teams required.
Must be available to work during off-hours, especially for emergencies and turnarounds Must be able to work effectively with others at all levels and functional areas of the refinery.
