*QUALIFICATIONS* *Education*_: _ * Medical Technologist/Specialist - Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited college or university, OR * Medical Laboratory Technician - High school diploma or equivalent.
Associate degree in a laboratory science (chemical or biological science) or medical laboratory technology from an accredited college or university and completion of a clinical laboratory internship preferred.
*Experience:* * Medical Technologist I: less than two (2) years’ experience as an MT * Specialist (Categorical): less than two (2) years’ experience as a Specialist (Categorical) * Medical Laboratory Technician I: less than two (2) years’ experience as an MLT.
* Medical Laboratory Technician II: * Two (2) or more years of experience as an MLT with one (1) year at DLS with at least a Consistently Meets rating on last Performance Appraisal and no Corrective Action (Verbal or above) within prior year; OR * Three (3) years relevant experience as MLT.
*Certification:* Hawaii: * Certified or licensed as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Technologist or Specialist in the assigned/responsible laboratory discipline by an agency recognized by the Hawaii Department of Health State Laboratories Division.
