It is with a heavy heart that I am seeking a new home for my beloved fur-baby, Poli'ahu.
Primarily Catahoula mixed with Blue Heeler; her markings are "pie-bald" mostly white due to a lack of melanocytes and glassy blue eyes, although she has good vision and hearing.
She was born in November 2022 and I have been part of her life since her birth.
She weighs about 65lbs.
I have devoted a lot of time and money raising/training her, she has been responsive and is growing into a well disciplined, loving companion.
She was well exposed to various environment from 8 weeks on and well socialized after her initial vaccinations.
She was doing great but then she became more anxious in the varying environments and with other dogs; barking and lunging at them.
However, she spends 1/3 of each month with caregivers while I am at work; one environment is a farm with other dogs, chickens and varying people, the other caregiver has a cat, dog, and teenagers all of which she does great with.
My lifestyle is not favorable for her developing personality and need for her highly managed environment since I am also
raising my 9yr old daughter, whom needs playmates and for me to be with her in varying environments.
I have had to weigh out the pros and cons of her loyal companionship with the loss of attention I am providing to my daughter, the further time and training that my dog needs to be at ease with our lifestyle is beyond my capacity at this time.
Poli'ahu would be better suited on a farm or at home with a large yard, with another dog, and likely a male handler.
She is very athletic which I have provided appropriate activities such as fetching the ball at the beach, hiking, walks, running alongside a cruiser bike.
I love her dearly and letting her go will not be possible unless I feel her new home will be better for her.
