Job Title: Site Safety & Health Officer
Department: Base Operations and Maintenance
Job Summary:
Ensures all required safety training and reporting are performed according to company, federal, state, and local statutory requirements.
Plans, implements and supervises project safety and ensures that accident and fire protection programs are in compliance with the Safety Program on the assigned project.
Consults with Safety Manager to develop safe work plans for all project phases and crew tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None Duties/Responsibilities: Assist in developing, implementing, and coordinating the safety training programs.
This may include employee orientations, specific program training, monitoring, and assisting in weekly safety meetings, supervisor training, and accident awareness training Performs safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares report identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel and senior management Assist managers and supervisors in investigating and documenting all property damage, personal injuries, safety violations, and unsafe conditions and activities Work with managers and supervisors in managing hazardous working conditions and eliminating unsafe employee activities.
Investigate and recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operations to minimize potential hazards Oversee workplace repair, installations, and any other work that could harm employees' safety Develop, manage and report on safety programs and plans at the company level and specific to each company location Assists in the development and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local statutory requirements Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes Collect, manage and report on safety procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local statutory requirements Advises safety director on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions Ensure employee understanding of and compliance with all safety company policies and procedures Ensure that all sub-contractors' employees comply with job site safety rules and regulations Perform Quality Control inspections regarding work completed by staff Verify documentation is complete and comprehensive before submitting to the government Required Skills/Abilities: Proficient written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents in English Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry Proficient Microsoft Office productivity suite Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent At least 5 years of safety related experience required 2 years of experience completing Quality Control tasks Thorough knowledge of health and safety laws and guidelines and continuouseducation within safety industry Experience with fall protection, hazardous communications, and hazard assessments Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times Ability to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessary Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals Special Qualifications/Requirements: Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation Valid state driver's license Completed 30 Hour OSHA Construction Course Disclaimer: The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and that additional tasks may be assigned to the employee from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.
