Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide.
Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other federal agencies, all over the world.
As the Structural Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in providing engineering support at Kadena AFB in Okinawa, Japan.
You will handle and manage assigned design projects consistent with the planning and design goals and standards as established, and you are responsible for ensuring the completion of the design work and participating in planning the phases to prevent disruption and help minimize overall costs.
This is a 6-month contract.
Our salary range for this position is based on the market data, $90k to $130k per year (range varies depending on experience and qualifications).
Key responsibilities: • Perform professional engineering and project management work to protect life, safety, health, and property.
• Provide civil or structural professional consultations on a wide range of difficult unforeseen problems on design interfaces, repairs, designs, and construction.
• Review designs, plans and specifications to ensure structural safe facilities.
• Review preliminary and final engineering plans, specifications and cost estimates of architect and engineering firms or another government agency to ensure design excellence and compliance with specifications.
• Provide expertise to team on projects for construction, renovations, and improvements to facilities.
• Provide expert technical assistance and guidance on maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction work.
• Assist in analyzing the critical path schedule for design and construction projects.
• Prepare, review, and approve project documents including building and system designs, estimates, specifications and bid packages.
• Administer the acquisition documents for design, construction, renovation, and repair.
• Ensure that designs and specifications meet structural requirements and construction.
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as needed.
Qualifications to be successful in the role: • Must be a graduate of Bachelor’s degree in Civil/ Structural Engineering.
• Must be a registered Professional Engineer (P.
E.
).
• Passed the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) examination specifically in the discipline of Structural Engineering.
• Must have 5+ years relevant construction experience i.
e.
government projects.
• Must be ready to be deployed to Okinawa, Japan or must be a US national in Japan.
• Able to read and interpret acquisition policy, regulations, and directives.
• Must be experienced in assessing and responding to Requests for Information (RFI) • Able to provide clear guidance to all lower-level acquisition personnel.
• Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing • Must be able to understand and interpret structural drawings and have a basic understanding of the principals and how they fit in with other engineering disciplines.
• Must be able to review shop drawings and submittals from the contractor and determine if coordination with other disciplines is necessary in addition to monitoring on-going construction work to identify problems or non-compliance with design or contract specifications • Knowledgeable of Construction Safety regulations, i.
e.
EM 385-1-1, OSHA, etc.
