Responsibilities of a Project Engineer : Depending on the requirements of the project, Project Engineers may be assigned to projects as designated QC Specialist, Safety Specialist, field engineer, or Project Assistant Manager.
Project engineers may be tasked with the following responsibilities.
1.
Project Planning: Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Help define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
2.
Design and Engineering: Participate in the design and engineering phase of the project by reviewing and contributing to design documents, drawings, and specifications.
Ensure that design meets project requirements and industry standards.
3.
Resource Allocation: Coordinate and allocate resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment, to ensure project tasks are completed on time and within budget.
4.
Vendor and Supplier Management: Source and manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Procure necessary materials and services, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
5.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues that could affect project progress and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Monitor and manage project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
6.
Quality Control: Establish and implement quality control processes and procedures to ensure that project work meets quality standards and specifications.
Conduct inspections and audits as necessary.
7.
Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, drawings, change orders, and technical reports.
Ensure that all project records are organized and up-to-date.
8.
Cost Management: Monitor project costs and expenses, track expenditures against the budget, and identify opportunities for cost savings or efficiency improvements.
9.
Communication: Facilitate clear and effective communication among project team members, stakeholders, and clients.
Provide regular project updates and reports to management.
10.
Construction Supervision: Oversee construction activities, ensuring that work is carried out in compliance with plans, codes, and safety regulations.
Resolve construction-related issues and challenges.
11.
Scheduling: Develop and maintain project schedules, monitor progress, and identify and address scheduling conflicts or delays.
12.
Change Management: Evaluate and manage change requests, including scope changes, and assess their impact on the project's timeline and budget.
Ensure proper documentation and approval processes are followed.
13.
Health and Safety: Promote and enforce safety practices on the project site, ensuring that workers adhere to safety regulations and guidelines.
14.
Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to verify that project work meets client expectations and quality standards.
15.
Client Relations: Maintain positive relationships with clients by addressing their concerns, providing regular updates, and ensuring their satisfaction with project progress and outcomes.
19.
Problem Solving: Address project-related challenges and issues as they arise, applying engineering principles and problem-solving skills to find practical solutions.
20.
Compliance: Ensure that the project complies with all relevant regulations, codes, permits, and environmental requirements.
21.
Closeout and Handover: Oversee the project's closeout phase, including final inspections, documentation, punch lists, and the handover of completed work to the client.
22.
Lessons Learned: Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned, areas for improvement, and best practices for future projects.
General Qualifications for Project Engineer: 1.
High School Diploma 2.
Must be able to pass background check and obtain and maintain a DBIDs Badge, AOA Badge, or other security credentials.
3.
Experience in Management and Construction a plus.
4.
Must be proficient with word applications including outlook, excel, and word.
5.
P6, bluebeam, adobe, CAD, ECMS experience a plus.
6.
Must be able to effectively communicate between team, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
