Duties include but are not limited to the following: Diagnoses malfunctions, and repairs and maintains various electrically and hydraulically controlled automatic ground sprinkler systems including automatic controllers and programmers, control valves and sprinkler heads; Dismantles valves and cleans bonnet assemblies, diaphragms, solenoids and valve seats; checks and replaces panel fuses and resets circuit breakers; Checks and repairs clock mechanisms and/or replaces malfunctioning units for factory repair; Plans and establishes maintenance schedules for all automatic sprinkler systems; Inspects installation of new systems with department engineers and inspectors; Keeps records of repair costs; Determines need for and requisitions parts and supplies; Prepares work reports; and Operates light motorized vehicles.

Under the supervision of the Lead Automatic Sprinkler System Repairer, this position performs installation, renovation, construction, maintenance and repair of departmental sprinkler systems.
General work schedule is Monday - Friday from 6:30 a.
m.
to 3:00 p.
m.
, but may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Heavy lifting and carrying may be required.
Position also serves as a disaster response worker during declared emergencies.
