Duties include but are not limited to the following: Diagnoses malfunctions, and repairs and maintains various electrically and hydraulically controlled automatic ground sprinkler systems including automatic controllers and programmers, control valves and sprinkler heads; Dismantles valves and cleans bonnet assemblies, diaphragms, solenoids and valve seats; checks and replaces panel fuses and resets circuit breakers; Checks and repairs clock mechanisms and/or replaces malfunctioning units for factory repair; Plans and establishes maintenance schedules for all automatic sprinkler systems; Inspects installation of new systems with department engineers and inspectors; Keeps records of repair costs; Determines need for and requisitions parts and supplies; Prepares work reports; and Operates light motorized vehicles.

Heavy lifting and carrying may be required.
Position also serves as a disaster response worker during declared emergencies.
